About the Program:
In the spirit of giving, ETPCEC is pleased to host Cathy Zall, Executive Director of New London Homeless Hospitality Center and Katherine Verano, Chief Executive Officer of Safe Futures to share about how their organizations are supporting our friends, families and neighbors in need.

About the Speakers:
Catherine Zall currently serves as the Executive Director of the New London Homeless Hospitality Center (NLHHC). Before beginning her work in New London, she served in a variety of positions including managing the Care for Kids program and almost ten years working as the Deputy Commissioner managing New York City’s Welfare to Work program. She also served five years as an Associate Minister at the First Congregational Church in Old Lyme and over ten years as the part time Pastor of the First Congregational Church in New London. Ms. Zall has an undergraduate degree from Brown University, a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a Master of Divinity degree from the Yale Divinity School. She has two grown children and lives in New London.
Katherine Verano is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Safe Futures, formerly The Women’s Center of Southeastern Connecticut. Katherine left her career in Corporate Banking and came to Safe Futures 28 years ago after a close friend and peer was brutally murdered by her husband. Katherine is dedicated to working in this field and started on the crisis hotline in 1994, continued managing the emergency shelter, counseling program, criminal court support justice system, Director of Client Services, prior to her role as CEO. In the criminal justice system, Katherine interviewed thousands of victims and offenders of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and trafficking over a 20-year period at the time of an arrest and arraignment, and throughout the court process. Katherine has been exemplary in bringing court and community partners together in forums and roundtables; in a collaborative effort to enhance services to victims of crime, while educating partners and planning a Family Justice Center for the agency and community partners. Katherine travels nationally and internationally, including Beijing, China, on behalf of The Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, training on matters of Lethality Assessment Programing with Law Enforcement, domestic violence intervention and strategies to Government officials. Katherine is currently serving a four-year term as an elected member of the Governor’s Judicial Review Council.
